Happy Friday!!! Today, I decided I wanted to follow-up on my goal setting post with some motivation to make sure you keep up the pace on reaching your goals or start goals you may not have begun.

Two things you may not know about me are:

1. I love Solange (go listen to Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams and thank me later)
2. I’m a very optimistic person and I try to share optimism with others on the daily basis

As an optimistic person, I love to hear people complain. I know this sounds like an oxymoron, but let me explain. Often times when people come to me with dilemmas my first question is “What makes you happier?” Not what makes you more money or brings more praise to your name, but what brings you joy inside? Typically, when people are completely satisfied in every aspect of their lives they have nothing to complain about. However, realistically no one is every completely satisfied. #SorryNotSorry Which is why we complain; people complain when they realize something needs to change. This is why I like complaints because you recognized what’s wrong or you’re on the journey to recognizing what’s wrong. It’s the first step to making a change. But you have to act!

Many of the goals I set in September all stem from complaints I’ve had for months or even years. Setting those goals and taking steps to achieve them is how I go about rectifying those complaints. I don’t like complaining if it continues and you’re not taking the necessary steps to change them or give excuses as to why you can’t change it. If you literally can’t change it, then change your perception of it; which is still a way of rectifying the issue.

I truly believe when most people complain, they see the issues in others and don’t look at the issues within themselves. Once you solve the issues within, everything else will fall in line.

One example I’ve noticed that’s prevalent for millennials is comparing our lives to people we see on social media. STOP DOING THIS! We must realize social media is a highlight reel, no one posts all of their troubles and obstacles it took them to get to their goals. Even still, people can look completely happy and be utterly miserable. We must realize the glory is inside of us; what makes you happy regardless of who’s watching and despite who knows. There’s your glory. Don’t listen to others; follow your heart. Find the glory inside.
